Darren, the sole purpose of a primer is to ignite the gun powder. Therefore the Brisance rating is of no practical use to you. Unless you are constructing your loads at maximum powder capacity. The only way that I know would be to set up some loads with different primer brands and chronograph them to see if velocity changes dramatically. And to visually Inspect your casings for signs of over pressure. Of course this would only be valid for that lot # of primers. All of the different manufacturers primers will have different amounts of flash due to proprietary ingredients in their manufacturing. Magnum primers contain more compound than standard primers. If you use magnum primers in standard loads reduce your powder amount by 10% . Hope this helped.
