Hornady makes brass with the same accuracy, attention to detail, and focus on perfection that has propelled them to the top of the bullet manufacturing industry. They verify each piece by hand and measure the brass for consistent wall concentricity, pressure calibration, and uniform case expansion
This commitment to quality assures appropriate bullet seating in both the case and the chamber, as well as consistent charges and pressures. As a consequence, your cartridges will have ideal velocity and consistent accuracy. Brass is brand new and unprimed. This is not a loaded round.
Brass Preparation: When working with bulk rifle brass, it is common to find a few case mouths that are “out of round” or slightly dented below the shoulder. These flaws appear after the case mouth has been annealed during the final tumble wash procedure. Brass producers are aware of the case cosmetics and have sought to alleviate them, however denting may still occur owing to equipment design. Minor dents are often eliminated on the first fire and have little impact on case life or performance. On non-plated brass, you may note that not all of the anneal stain has been cleaned out, giving the case neck a reddish colour. The case lips of certain lower calibre cases may be somewhat belled.
Straighten out the case and case mouth of all new rifle brass before chamfering and deburring the case mouth inside and out. Run the case partially through the sizer die and let the expander ball straighten the brass. To keep the case neck from extending, lube it within the case mouth.
